Inspiration | process | Materials
In my practice, I am curious about how different materials and elements can come together to create a cohesive piece. Rather than following a fixed painting style, I work intuitively, allowing freedom, spontaneity, and experimentation to guide the process.
Much of my inspiration comes from close observation of the natural world. I’m particularly drawn to patterns, tactile surfaces, tangled lines, shadows, movement, and the subtle details often overlooked in everyday life. Through my work, I explore ideas of interconnectedness, natural cycles and transformation, and the relationship between bodily senses and the surrounding environment.
I work with a diverse range of materials and techniques. I create shaped canvases and recycle paper, forming it into organic surfaces for painting. My approach combines gestural oil painting with frottage, fluid pigments, dyes, and the use of bleach to remove colour. I often incorporate found objects, sand, and embroidery, and frequently reuse materials already present in my studio.
Blending abstraction with references to landscape and occasional figurative elements, I aim to push my creative boundaries and continually expand the possibilities of the medium.
