Painting process - Pine Tree

Process of one of my paintings - Pine Tree.

This work is part of a series inspired by trees in a local park. During the 2020 lockdown, regular visits to the park became a key source of observation and inspiration, leading to a focus on painting trees. Photographs were taken throughout the day, capturing variations in light, colour, and the structure of branches, which were later used as reference material in the studio.

“Pine Tree” is an oil painting developed from this series, using a range of green tones and subtle variations in shading to build depth and atmosphere. The work was selected for exhibition in the Sunny Art Prize 2020 and later sold at auction through Art for Charity Collective, with 30% of proceeds donated to the mental health charity A Space Between.
